F.J - Thats the Way
Lilting, early ‘90s, Bajan R&B with strong reggae and soul influences, reissued by the on-point Smiling C crew.
Written, produced and recorded by the fantastically titled Fritz Bootle Jr. aka F.J., ‘That’s The Way’ features two tracks previously issued on a domestic 12” in the Bahamas in 1993, newly supplemented with four previously unreleased heaters from F.J.’s archive.
‘Fool’s Love’ gets silky rude from the off with F.J.’s croon set over well-oiled synth bass’ ‘That’s The Way’ bumps the energy up to a melodic skank with harmonised vox; ‘Bahama Unite’ swangs out on the deepest Caribbean R&B flex; ‘I Want Her’ comes in closer with a proper ‘90s sensuality; ‘Chate’ strikes gold on a more uptempo electro-soul style; and ‘In My Heart’ shuts the lights off.
