The Secret DJ’s work spans many years, styles and guises. SDJ worked on early electronic music, studios and sound systems for several legendary indie artists. They were recruited to DJ with a stadium dance act who went on to global success with tours and were the first act to use turntables on Top of the Pops. Simultaneously SDJ formed a KLF-style situationist outfit that went on to tour around the globe, scoring a number one dance single. Their second single was ‘A’ listed in advance by BBCR1 for nine weeks, a first at that time. SDJ also co-founded the Kiss FM radio network outside of London, taking it to the rest of the UK. SDJ and/or SDJ promotions have resulted in DJ residencies for global superclubs such as Cream, Home, Manumission Ibiza, Ministry of Sound, Space Ibiza, Turnmills and more. After decades of touring and rock ’n’ roll lifestyle SDJ took a step back for health reasons and in 2018 created the Secret DJ identity, originally as a series of advice pieces for musicians, DJs and producers. The subsequent book with Faber and Faber went on to become the fastest-selling and most successful electronic music publication of all time. In 2020 SDJ died for approximately five minutes from COVID and has spent the last three years recuperating and releasing a further two SDJ books. The books are being developed for a movie and they're now ready to bring SDJ’s experiential ‘Dark Room’ to a disco near you.
